Performance #6 - Unwillingly / À Contrecoeur

For Unwillingly, I will be dressed in black with my eyes blinded. I will walk under 100 suspended condoms, filled with the load of men. 12 of these condoms will be black, representing the present percentage of the Montreal population of men having sex with men who are infected with HIV. Each condom will be pierced and I will drink each and every one of the 100 condoms. This live performance will last about 30 minutes. The goal of this performance is to highlight the potential risk for transmission of STI’s orally.

When quotes like these are used, I would be interested to know what your sources are, or what kind of research you've done.

Cindy Patton did some amazing work/writing in the 80s about the concept that sexuality/sex leads to HIV/AIDS and death. A virus causes HIV. Sexuality does not coes it. You might like to read some of her work.

I obtained the statistics from the Government of Canada 2006 Report on the UNGASS Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS ANNEX 3 available at http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/aids-sida/
publication/index.html.

Thank you for the info about cindy Patton. I know that HIV is a virus but unsafe sexuality and ignorance continues it's spread.
